Inauguration
The Inauguration Ceremony Child Health Institute (New Block) at Sindh Government Children Hospital, North Nazimabad Karachi was held on 15th December 2016.
Dr. Sikandar Ali Mandhro, Honourable Minister Health, Government of Sindh; His Excellency Mr. Takashi Kurai, Ambassador of Japan in Pakistan and Mr. Waseem Akhter, Mayor of Karachi inaugurated the new block of Sindh Government Children Hospital.

Community Development training
Community Development & Social Mobilization training at District DIKhan
The objectives of the training were to deliver the knowledge about community & social mobilization and community development to the HAMC members. The HAMC members were also to facilitate on meeting registers and other materials of the committee.
Courses/subjects covered during the training:

• Social mobilization
• Core areas for community development
• Role of HAMC members
• Skills needed for HAMC members
• HAMC Register orientation
Major achievement:
• HAMC members understood the process of HAMC committee working
• 43 UC situation analyses forms filled by the HAMC presidents
• HAMC members understood the importance of social mobilization in community development
• HAMCs member agreed on contacts with other agencies for their own development
• Community will be prepared for participation in Committee’s activities

PEI Multi Sector Interventions
Medical Support Programme (MSP) of PEI was started with the support of expatriate Pakistanis, and other US and Canadian charities, who help to collect medical, surgical and hospital use disposable supplies besides some instruments and patient care small equipments. These collected donations are packed and shipped to Pakistan with the support of Hope International Development Agency, Canada. PEI stores these donations in rented warehouses from where further distribution, to various health facilities in different districts, is made possible. A computerized record keeping and tracking system is in use to manage all these resources received which facilitates storage, segregation, distribution, monitoring of appropriate use, collection of returned items and redistribution to other facilities besidessharing reports with government and other stakeholders.
PEI has signed a Collaborative Grant Agreement with the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan for support of Rs. 4 Billion worth of above mentioned resources during the four years to the government health facilities to improve health services delivery standards for the poor patients and vulnerable groups in the provinces.
PEI in collaboration with Elementary and Secondary Education Department Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa initiated a support program for school going poor students of the province. To increase the enrollment and retention PEI is providing incentive of brand new imported shoes to 8 lac students. Moving a step ahead PEI extending the same programs to FATA for benefit of the poor.
