Underprivileged were given non food items (NFIs) here on Saturday January 05, 2013 Khazana, Peshawar.
The ceremony was started at 12:00 pm held in Village Kankola, Tehsil Khazana and District Peshawar by the Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI), a non government organization based in Peshawar.
A total of 2005 poor people (403 Families) were given relief at the ceremony by the organization.
On behalf of Chief Executive Director PEI Mr. Shahid Yusaf, Mr. Gohar Ali Shah Operations Manager PEI highlighted the relief campaign; he said that relief distribution was part of the efforts launched by the PEI organization to fight poverty, adding that the areas of interventions of the organization over the years include small-scale community infrastructure development and youth development initiatives with a special focus on women and children.
In the distribution, Mr. Rashid Mehmood Khan, The Provincial Vice President (PML-N) and Mr. Arbab Akbar Hayat, Provincial Additional Secretary (PML-N) were present as the chief guest. Mr. Rashid Mehmood Khan thanked and appreciated efforts of PEI about their support to help poor families and also highlighted the Medical Support Program that it is so much important for poor patients. He really once again thanked PEI for their NFI and MSP Project.
Mr. Gohar Ali Shah Operations Manager PEI thanked everyone who work and make this event successful, and said that we will continue our efforts to decrease poverty in whole Pakistan. The Project was made possible by the assistance and cooperation of Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) and Hope International, Canada to improve health care services in Pakistan, Mr. Gohar Ali shah added.
PEI has already signed a Collaborative Grant Agreements with the Governments of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to distribute medical goods in kind donations worth four billion rupees in the next 4 years to provide relief and assistance to improve medical service standards in the government health facilities for the benefit of poor patients.
PEI has also signed an MOU with Social Welfare, Special Education& Women Empowerment Department Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa so as to Provide support and assistance in kind for disabled and needy individuals through the department.
Mr. Shahid Yusaf is the CEO of PEI and also Pakistan’s Honorary Investment Counselor in Vancouver, Canada. His commitment to help the poor and vulnerable groups in Pakistan have been recognized by many, during the past ten years.
PEI has signed MoUs with 11 different universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and for that doing Youth events in different universities for the betterment of students and better Pakistan. PEI is also striving to achieve the UN Millennium development goals by organizing various Youth activities such as; Workshops, debate competitions and seminars etc.

PEI Organizes Presentation Competition, Youth Event in IM Studies
From PEI, Coordinator Mr. Naveed Babar as chief guest and from IM Studies Director Dr. Sajjad Ahmed participated in the ceremony.
Mr. Naveed Babar addressed the students and told them that PEI will provide a platform to the youth of Pakistan which will help them to become an important person of the society. This platform will help them to reduce the misunderstandings between Pakistan and other western countries.

Warm Cloth Distribution at Charsadda
Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI) distributed 800 needy and vulnerable community individuals including women and children of district Charsadda. The NFI items included Sweaters, gloves, woolen shawls, caps and children clothing. The distribution of NFI was one day activity. In that activity PEI was presented by Mr. Gohar Ali Shah Manager Operation. Mr. Muhammad Bilal Program officer IT and M&E. Mr. Fahad Rehamn, Program Officer Media Relation. Mr. Atif Mehmood Program Officer Youth. PEI focused on women and children’s under 5. The distribution ceremony was held after a month exercise of the need assessment survey, in which all the beneficiaries were identified and after that NFI packets were distributed among them transparently. All the beneficiaries were very needy and deserving and they become very happy with this distribution of NFI. Chief Guest for that NFI Distribution was the Mr. Atif Khan MPA appreciates the working of PEI for the betterment of the poor and needy peoples.
Warm Cloth Distribution at Paraplegic Center
PEI distributed 109 NFI packets among 109 needy and vulnerable community individuals for physically handicapped peoples at paraplegic center Peshawar. The NFI items included Sweaters, gloves and caps. The distribution of NFI was one day activity. The distribution ceremony was held after an exercise of the need assessment survey, in which all the beneficiaries were identified and after that NFI packets were distributed among them transparently. All the beneficiaries were very needy and deserving and they become very happy with this distribution of NFI. In that activity PEI was presented by Mr. Syed Gohar Ali Shah Manager Operation, Mr. Atif Mehmood Program officer youth. Mr. Fahad Rehamn Program Officer Media Relation. Mr. Syed Gohar Ali shah addressed the patients that PEI will provide a plate form to the youth of Pakistan which will help them to become an important person of the society. Chief Guest for that NFI Distribution was the Advisor to Chief Minister Mr. Muhtar Khan and other notable persons i.e Syed Muhammad Ilyas Chief Executive Officer Paraplegic Center, Mr. Sikandar Khan and Mr. Atif Khan MPA Provincial Assembly KPK, appreciates the working of PEI for the betterment of the poor and needy peoples.

PEI distributed 229 NFI packets among 1250 needy and vulnerable community individuals including women and children of the affected community in Manglore, Swat Districts. The NFI items included Sweaters, gloves, woolen shawls, caps and children clothing. The distribution of NFI was one day activity. In that activity Pei was presented by Mr. Fazal Elahi from Swat Office. Mr.Masood-ur-Rehman, Program officer H, H&N. Mr. Fahad Rehamn, Program Officer Media Relation. Mr. Shahzad, Warehouse Assistant. and Mr. Mustafa as Volunteer. PEI focused on women and children’s under 5 and disables. The distribution ceremony was held after a month exercise of the need assessment survey, in which all the beneficiaries were identified and after that NFI packets were distributed among them transparently. All the beneficiaries were very needy and deserving and they become very happy with this distribution of NFI. Chief Guest for that NFI Distribution was the President of Swat Hotels Association, Mr. Said Nawab appreciates the working of PEI for the betterment of the poor, needy and flood affected peoples.
