Managed by PEI in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the Sindh Government Children’s Hospital (SGCH) in North Karachi has undergone substantial upgrades since 2018. Serving 500,000 children annually, the hospital offers 24/7 emergency care and operates a six-day outpatient department (OPD) handling 1,500 patients daily. Key enhancements include specialized units such as PICU, NICU, surgical, and medical units. Services also feature psychiatric clinics, expanded bed capacity, round-the-clock diagnostic facilities, and support centers for staff and community welfare, including a Day Care Centre, polio vaccination facility, and Nutrition Stabilization Centre.

Balochistan Medical Support Program

PEI's Balochistan Medical Support Program aims to enhance healthcare across seven major hospitals in the region. The program includes the provision of medical and surgical supplies to improve hospital capabilities and the establishment of help counters for impoverished patients. It also focuses on maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) by setting up 25 community birth stations to benefit 80,000 pregnant women. Hygiene promotion campaigns targeting 120,000 students and families aim to reduce diarrheal diseases. Additionally, health workers are equipped with mobile phones and a custom m-health app, enhancing patient care through improved diagnosis, referrals, and healthcare quality.

Sindh People’s Health Program

PEI's Sindh People’s Health Program, the largest health sector public-private partnership in Pakistan, focuses on enhancing healthcare across Sindh Province with innovative initiatives in 10 underserved districts. The program has established 450 birthing stations, training community midwives to use an M- health mobile app for maternal and child healthcare. Additionally, 4,500 Lady Health Workers (LHWs) were trained on the app for patient diagnostics and supply management, benefiting 4.5 million people with real-time reporting capabilities. Healthcare and hygiene skills were promoted among 600,000 children in 2,400 schools, alongside the distribution of 1 million shoes to combat hookworm and jiggers. Moreover, help counters were set up in 50 major healthcare facilities to provide transparent and accountable access to free medical and surgical supplies for the underserved populations across the province.

FATA Multi-Sectoral Intervention

PEIs FATA Multi-Sectoral Intervention aims to enhance healthcare delivery at the grassroots level and improve access to affordable medical services for underserved populations in Kurram, Bajaur, and Mohmand Agencies of FATA. The project began with a needs assessment of 50 health facilities, resulting in support for 14 facilities. PEI provided these facilities with essential medical and surgical supplies and equipment. Additionally, a series of seven capacity-building trainings were conducted for health service providers, focusing on the use of supplies, hygiene practices, prevention of infectious diseases, maternal and child health (MNCH), control of diarrheal and communicable diseases, and effective record-keeping. Supported health facilities include agency headquarters hospitals in Bajour, Wana, Parachinar, Miranshah, Kurram, Mohmand, and Waziristan.

Punjab Health Sector Interventions

PEI's Punjab Health Sector Interventions aim to enhance access to affordable and quality healthcare for underserved populations in Islamabad and the districts of Attock, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi. The project began with a comprehensive needs assessment of 13 selected health facilities, followed by the provision of essential medical and surgical supplies based on the assessment findings. Staff at these facilities were also trained to enhance service delivery and patient care. Additionally, health management committees were formed and trained to raise awareness about hygiene and health among local communities.

Disaster Management Training in Context of Health Services Delivery

PEI responded to a request from the Balochistan Health Department to enhance disaster management and emergency response capabilities across all 30 districts of Baluchistan Province. The initiative focused on building capacity among health staff, including District Health Officers (DHOs), Medical Superintendents (MS), senior medical officers, and personnel from relevant line departments such as the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA).

Health Strengthening Program, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The program began with a baseline perception survey on health service provision and a comprehensive needs assessment of 409 health facilities, resulting in support for 285 facilities. Capacity-building trainings were conducted for doctors and paramedics on medical and surgical supply usage, hygiene practices, infectious disease prevention, maternal and child health (MNCH), diarrheal and communicable disease control, and record-keeping.
