Mardan Community Development Project
Location: Mardan NWFP
PEI in partnership with HOPE International completed this project. PEI has worked with the resource poor community in Mardan to markedly improve sanitation conditions through the development of socially, economically, and physically sustainable structures. Slum streets with open sewers have been transformed into clean, safe places for families. More important, the community has organized and is both capable and motivated to maintain and further develop their common space. Women have played a key and active role in this process.
