Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)

WASH Program after 2010 Floods

In response to the devastating floods of 2010, PEI initiated a comprehensive WASH program in severely affected districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). PEI installed 75 strategically placed hand-pumps across Peshawar, Nowshera, and Charsadda, ensuring access to safe drinking water for over 208,000 individuals. Concurrently, 75 water user committees were formed and trained to sustainably manage and maintain these pumps, leading to significant health improvements including a 35% reduction in Acute Watery Diarrhea and lowered Infant and Maternal Mortality Rates. This initiative exemplifies PEIs commitment to long-term public health resilience in disaster-prone regions.
